I Have a Crush on My Boss Dear Shawn and Katia, I am single and 29 years old. I've recently started a promising new career with a local investment firm and have made friendships with many of my co-workers. I have also found myself attracted to one of my management supervisors and am trying to decide if I should ask her out for dinner. I've been told by friends that dating within the work place can have its difficulties, particularly when break-ups happen. Despite their words, the more I get to know her the more I feel we are a great fit together. Before risking all and going for it, I thought I would get your advice first. -- Gary in Boston Gary in Boston, Be careful and listen to your friends. You have just started a new job, so make this your focus right now in your life. Build on your friendships within the work place; however keep your home and your business life separate for a while. Test out the waters, but don't jump in too quickly. If the woman you have your eye on is meant to be the one, it will happen eventually. You are going to be seeing her a lot and feelings between you could change when you get to know her even more. Be pleasant towards her but do not openly flirt with her. If you see her expressing interest in you after you have settled into the job (at least 4-5 months), then have a private talk with her about it. Regardless, your colleagues don't need to know about any of this until you are both ready to commit to each other seriously. -- Shawn and Katia Post your ideas, comments and stories on the above topic : Read More Relationship And Dating Advice |
